Rural Residents’ Perceptions of Ecosystem Services: A Study from Three Topographic Areas in Shandong Province, China

Rural residents’ perception is an important way of evaluating rural ecosystem services. Different topographies affect the level services, thus affecting perceived preferences. This study conducted a questionnaire survey 1176 residents in mountainous, hilly, and plain areas Shandong Province. It analyzed respondents’ satisfaction with services landscape preferences different topographical areas. The results showed that was higher than average all three topographic perceptions from high to low were cultural provisioning regulating significantly affected by topography, significant differences between mountainous particular. varied widely there diverse believes concerns enhancing among are raise villagers’ ecological awareness meeting their growing spiritual needs sensitivity older people.
